My latest animation experiment..

I quite like doing animation, I want to experiment more and look at various techniques...there's so many ways to animate. This animations was influenced by the 1970's Mr. Benn animations, they were very simple stop frame animations which involved moving the camera a long an image and zooming in and out. Only one character moved at a time and there was a sense of movement in the drawings.

Here's another animation using white pencil on black card, I quite like this effect and the movement is very smooth. I think I've been influenced by the old Disney animations with this one.

A Simple Animation using Photoshop

Here are some of my illustrations:

I will go take you through a step by step process to create a simple animation using Photoshop...

Figure 1 The image was created using water colour pencil crayons.

I scanned it into Photoshop and played around with brightness and contrast, this is how I want it to look for my animation.
This will be background and foreground...

Figure 2 Taking the background out.

I copied and pasted the full image to create a new layer, then on the new layer I cut the background out to create a foreground, because I want my moving character/characters to be behind the trees in the foreground to give the animation some depth.

                                                          Figure 3 Character design

These are the images I used in the animation. The head was separate so it could be free transformed and moved e.g. the nodding. Each image has it's own layer and can be moved backwards and forwards among the trees and also re sized to create distance.
